• Select floor first, before choosing furnishings and wall décor, not the other way round!
• Consider how you use your room before you select your floor. If it is the busiest room, a darker more textured floor will be more practical, by hiding scuffs or minor scratches. • Make smaller rooms appear more spacious by using light colours to create an illusion of space. Keep things simple - fussy patterns will make small rooms feel cramped. • Use accessories to add detail. De-clutter & keep things in proportion. For example - use small tile sizes in smaller rooms to make them appear more spacious. • Tiles can be laid diagonally to create the feeling of more space in narrow areas such as hallways. • Add feature stripping between tiles to create a unique floor design that coordinates with your decor. • To get the ‘interior designer’ look, it’s the Finishing Touches that are most important. Use stripping or borders to make a real impact, and choose accessories in the same accent colours to co-ordinate your overall interior scheme look. • For a feeling of warmth, use rich earthy colours. Choose chocolate or coffee shades for a modern contemporary feel, neutral shades for an elegant look. |
